Rouge Awakening

We're thrilled to announce that Todd Lipman is our guest wine curator for August! 

"Rouge Awakening" is Todd's curation exploring several unique grape varietals from lesser-known French wine regions—four summer reds, and a sparkling rose'—true hidden gems!

Todd has been recognized as Boston’s Best Sommelier three times, by Improper Bostonian in 2011 & 2015 and Boston Magazine in 2014. Under each year of his direction at Bistro du Midi, his wine program has been granted Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence for eight consecutive years, and his wine list has been dubbed “one of the city’s most formidable” by Bon Appetit Magazine. Todd also serves as the Wine Director for the Nantucket Wine & Food Festival and the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival (Newport, RI). 

THE WINES

• Ripe, roasted red fruits on the nose give way to brighter hints of pomegranate and strawberry, balanced with savory notes of smoke and mushroom on the finish. The Jura region is a darling among wine pros the world over, and 2009 was a knock-out vintage. 

• Aromas of rustic, forest-driven notes like cedar, sandalwood, and violet, and flavors of wild strawberry and ripe grapefruit. Balanced acidity and a long, peppery finish.
