Regardless of where you land in the pumpkin spice latte debate, there’s no denying fall in New England is something special. And while the foliage, sweater weather, and football games are appealing in their own right, it’s the food that has us waiting with bated breath for the autumnal equinox.
Fall in New England is a season of abundance. Apple picking, cider doughnuts, roasted squash and root vegetables. The crisp air means it’s finally cool enough to keep the oven on for hours of roasting chicken or braising pork loin with hearty seasonal greens. Then there’s the aforementioned football season, when tailgating and backyard barbecues rise to prominence and grilled sausages, burgers, chicken wings, and pulled pork get their greasy due.
With heartier fare headed our way, a wine with elegance, finesse, and balance is what’s often called for—something to relieve our palates from the earthy depth of root vegetables or the deliciously sticky flavor of barbecue ribs. Enjoy the wines in this month’s curation alongside whatever form abundance takes, be it a candlelit dinner of classic French fare, or during a Hail Mary moment on the living room couch. Wine is for every day—especially this season.
NOTE: Our "Pick Your Own Wines" Monthly Subscription is in beta, and not all wines in our 'All Red' subscription have supporting content (tasting notes, etc). Please read and understand the product descriptions before selecting either of these options.
