In the heart of our own St. Mary’s neighborhood lies a gem that has been a cornerstone of our community, Taberna de Haro. And just this May, Kristie Weiss took the reins from beloved owner, chef, & sommelière Deborah Hansen. Kristie, a longtime patron of Taberna, shares a passion for Spanish culture and cuisine. Her love for the restaurant runs deep, and she brings with her a wealth of experience and an unyielding commitment to maintaining the restaurant's authentic charm.

She envisions not just preserving the traditions but infusing new life into the space, ensuring it remains a vibrant and integral part of Brookline for years to come. Under her Kristie’s ownership, Taberna de Haro will continue to provide a welcoming atmosphere of a traditional taberna—a place where friends and family can gather, share stories, and savor the rich flavors of Spain.

  • Bodegas Zarate, Albariño - Light and clean. Steely peach and apricot, so refreshing and dry. Pair with Taberna's Biénmesabe (Marinated Fried Haddock).
  • Bodegas Muga, Rioja Rosado - Medium bodied and cheerful. Raspberry coulis and crushed tomatoes. Pair with Taberna's Verduras Con Romesco or Croquetas.
  • Conde de Valdemar, Rioja Crianza - Medium bodied and so cozy. Strawberry preserves and clove with great acidity. Pair with Taberna's Albóndigas (Madrid Style Meatballs).
  • Bodegas y Viñedos Maurodos, Prima - Full bodied and wonderfully bloody. Savory minerality and blackberries with silky smooth tannins. Pair with  Taberna's Falda (Grilled Skirt Steak).
